Bowdoin breezes by Beavers

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Bowdoin College bolted out to a 44-11 first-half advantage and cruised to a 72-38 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team this evening at University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth's Hampton Inn Classic.

The Beavers (0-2) are scheduled to take on Mount St. Vincent in the consolation game on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Polar Bears (1-0) are slated to face the host Corsairs, who topped Mount St. Vincent 85-74.

Joe McCloskey (Howland, Maine) led UMF with 12 points, while Yusuf Iman (Auburn, Maine) chipped in 11 points and five rebounds off the bench. The Beavers struggled from the field at 22.6 percent (14-62), including 19 from beyond the arc (4-21). The Polar Bears connected on 50 percent (30-60) of their shots.

Will Hanley led Bowdoin with 19 points and nine points, while Ryan O'Connell added 13 points and Andrew Madlinger pitched in 11 points.
