SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Western New England athletics director Mike Theulen will return as the school's men's basketball coach next season, College Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Jeanne Hart-Steffes announced Monday (Mar. 28).

Theulen, who will remain as AD, replaces Chris Agoglia who resigned after seven seasons with the program, including the last three as head coach. Agoglia served as an assistant under Theulen from 2004-08 and played for Theulen for three years when he coached the men's basketball team at Springfield.

Agoglia posted a 25-51 record during his tenure with the Golden Bears, including a 4-21 mark this past season.

"I personally want to thank Chris for his hard work with our basketball program," said Theulen. "Chris and I have been very close for a long time, and I wish him all the best in his future pursuits."

Steffes also announced that associate athletic directors Joe Sassi and Cyndi Costanzo will assume the day-to-day operations of the men and women's athletic programs, respectively.

Two weeks ago Bret Stothart was named the new women's volleyball coach, succeeding Kait Kozak who left to become the assistant women's volleyball coach at Navy.
