Four Starters Score in Double Figures in UW-L's Victory

La Crosse, Wis. - Four starters scored in double figures as the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball team earned a 93-78 victory over 12th-ranked UW-River Falls Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 14-10 overall and 9-6 in the WIAC as they recorded their fifth straight win. The Falcons, ranked 12th on D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll, fall to 19-5 overall and 12-3 in the conference. 

With its victory Wednesday, UW-L clinches a home game in the WIAC Tournament Quarterfinals Tuesday, February 22. 

UW-L led 18-16 with 10:55 left in the first half when it went on a 12-4 run to lead 30-20 with 6:24 remaining. The Falcons then finished the half on a 16-5 run to lead 36-35. Jake Voeltz scored on a layup with :46 left to give UW-River Falls the halftime advantage, its first lead in the opening half. 

The Eagles led 47-46 with 15:06 left in the contest and used a 15-3 run to lead 62-49 with 11:31 remaining. Tony Mane had a pair of three-pointers in the run while Braden Tice added one three-pointer. UW-RIver Falls later cut the deficit to 71-63 with 5:55 left, but the Falcons would get no closer the rest of the game. 

UW-L scored its final 12 points of the game at the free throw line, going 12-of-16 in the final 2:32. 

Mane led UW-L with 27 points, finishing eight-of-16 from the field, including six-of-eight from three-point range, and eight-of-11 at the line. He also finished with five rebounds, two assists and two steals.Jordan Rumpel recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. His 20 points set a career-high while the 11 rebounds tied a career-high. 

Cory Degner finished with 18 points while Al Chery added 13. 

UW-L shot 57.1% from the field, its fifth straight game of shooting at least 50.0% from the field. The Eagles shot 38.1% (eight-of-21) from three-point range and 70.0% (21-of-30) at the free throw line Wednesday. The 93 points scored Wednesday night tied a season-high for UW-L.

Shane Manor led UW-River Falls with a double-double, finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Voeltz added 19 points and eight rebounds.

The Falcons shot 48.3% from the field, including 42.9% (six-of-14) from three-point range, and 72.7% (16-of-22) at the line.

UW-L wraps up its regular season Saturday, February 19 hosting sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point at 3:05 p.m.
