Bertanza in the National Spotlight after 55-Point Outburst

NEWTON, MA-  Lasell's Sean Bertanza (Seymour, CT) has made his way into the national spotlight after scoring 55 points in a men's basketball contest against St. Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday, February 12th.  The incredible feat is the leading single-game scoring performance of the 2010-2011 season this year amongst all NCAA men's basketball players, across all three divisions.  Bertanza was awarded a spot on the nationally acclaimed D3Hoops.com team of the week for his outstanding achievement. 

Bertanza was unstoppable against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) leaders St. Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday, recording 55 points to break Lasell's single-game scoring record and single-game field goal record. He shot 22-for-32 (69%) from the field, 5-for-7 (71%) from the arc, and 6-for-7 (85%) from the line, including a 3-pointer with four seconds to go to force overtime. Over the week, he shot 61.3 percent from the floor and 52.5 percent from downtown, while averaging 34 points per game.
