TOWSON, Md. (February 12, 2011) - The Rangers complicated the Landmark Conference playoff picture with a 63-56 loss to Goucher this evening. The Gopher defense held the Rangers scoreless in the final 1:16 to hand the second loss in as many days.

The back and forth battle would come down to the final two minutes of the ball game where the Rangers have been so good this season. Junior Asmar Capers (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) hit a jumper with 1:16 remaining on the clock to tie the game at 56. The Gopher defense would not allow the Rangers to score another point for the remainder of the game.

Goucher (6-14, 4-9 Landmark) would score on the ensuing possession off a mid-range jumper from Shane Yambor. A Ranger turnover the next time down the court, forced Drew to foul and Donte Brandon was able to knock down two free throws to put the Gophers up four.

With 22 seconds remaining, Capers had his shot blocked by Trae Lindsay, the Landmark Conference's leader in blocked shots and once again the Rangers were forced to foul. Lindsay and the Gophers would convert on three of the next four freebees to negate any chance of a Ranger comeback.

Dara Mc Keon (Dunboynne, Ireland/St. Peter's College) had 11 first-half points and finished the game with a team-high 13. Dylan Bulger (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Academy) recorded his third double-double of the season adding 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Drew (13-11, 8-5 Landmark), who held sole possession of second place before this weekend's games, now is in a three way tie with Catholic and Merchant Marine. As the standings sit now, the Rangers own the tiebreaker over both teams but will need a win this Saturday to secure the conference's second overall seed in the upcoming conference tournament. A loss to the Mariners and a Catholic win will bump the Rangers down to the fourth seed. If Goucher can continue to play the role of spoiler and defeat Catholic on Saturday, Drew can finish no lower than the third seed no matter what the outcome is against Merchant Marine.

The must-win game next weekend will be played in Kings Point with tip-off set for 7:30 PM. Audio and Video coverage will be announced later in the week.
