PELLA - Cornelius Mosby tied a school record with 24 rebounds, but Central pulled away in the second half for a 74-55 win over Simpson on Wednesday night.

Mosby finished with 11 points and five blocks, putting together a monster performance in the losing cause. His effort on the glass ties Simpson's single-game record, set more than 50 years ago when Steve Bentz pulled down 24 during the 1958-59 season.

JJ Vanderheiden scored 18 points on 8 of 14 shooting and Stefon Brown added nine for the Storm (9-13, 6-7 Iowa Conference). Simpson split the season series with Central and saw its losing streak increase to three, shooting a season-low 29.2 percent from the field. The Storm went 19-for-65, including 1-for-7 from 3-point range.

Demarco Turner finished with 22 points and seven assists for the Dutch (12-10, 8-6). Jack Bruns added 13 and KJ Cool 11. Chris Lehmann brought down 14 rebounds and Jacob Winkler blocked four shots.

Central never trailed in the game. A layup by Elijah Knox made the score 33-29 with just under 16 minutes left in the second half, but Bruns sparked a 25-11 run over the next 8:39 to give Central an 18-point lead.

Both teams shot below 30 percent in the first half, but Central recovered, shooting 53.6 percent in the second. Despite falling behind by 11 in the first half, Simpson went on an 8-2 run in the final two minutes to make the score 29-24 at the break.

Simpson tries to snap its three-game skid Saturday when it travels to Waverly for a 4 p.m. tipoff against Wartburg. The Storm picked up an 84-71 win against the Knights (8-13, 3-10) on Jan. 19 in Indianola.
