HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (February 10, 2011) – Needing a win to stay in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament hunt, Centenary men's basketball seniors Will Atkinson (Old Bridge, N.J./Raritan), Corey Kearney (North Arlington, N.J./Queen of Peace) and Rob Urie (Ortley Beach, N.J./Toms River East) combined to score 51 points to lead the Cyclones (9-13, 7-8 CSAC) to a convincing 75-53 win over Immaculata (9-13, 7-8 CSAC), Thursday in front of a boisterous crowd in Hackettstown, N.J.

The win puts Centenary in a tie with IU for sixth-place in the conference standings with three games to go. Tonight's contest also avenged an earlier one-point loss that the Cyclones suffered to the Mighty Macs on Dec. 6.

Urie led the way with a game-high 20 points, as well as four assists, three rebounds and one steal. Atkinson hit six three-pointers en route to 18 points and Kearney finished with 13 points, two rebounds and one assist.

Junior Larry Lenahan (South Amboy, N.J./South Amboy) came just short of his sixth-straight double-double, tallying eight points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Warren Murphy (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield Park) almost recorded a triple-double, finishing with a career-high nine assists, along with seven rebounds and a personal-best seven steals.

CC shot 40.7 percent from the field (22-of-54) while IU connected on 44.4 percent from the floor (24-of-54). But the difference in the game came from downtown and the free throw line, as Centenary hit a season-high 13 three-pointers in 27 attempts (48.1 percent) and connected on 18-of-25 free throws (72.0 percent) while the Mighty Macs hit just one three-pointer in 11 attempts (9.1 percent) and four free throws in 12 attempts (33.3 percent).

The Cyclones recorded a season-high 19 assists while Immaculata finished with just four. CC also finished with 13 fast break points while holding its opponent to zero.

An early 8-1 Immaculata lead was wiped away thanks to a 10-0 Centenary run that put the Cyclones up, 16-12 with 11:29 remaining in the first half. CC found itself trailing again, 20-19 with 6:17 to go in the stanza, but the home team put together an 8-0 run to go up 27-20 and went into the locker room with a 33-26 halftime lead. The Cyclones never trailed from there, building their lead and eventually winning by 22.

CC returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 12, with a road CSAC contest at Keystone at 3:00 p.m., as part of a double-header with the women's team, who will take on the Giants at 1:00 p.m.
