Josh Morrison hit a three-pointer with 3.8 seconds left as NC Wesleyan edged Greensboro College, 73-70, at Hanes Gym on Wednesday. Freshman Damian Dixon netted a game-high 16 points in the defeat for The Pride.

NCWC improved to 16-6 and 8-1 in the USA South. GC dropped to 11-11, 4-5.

Dixon was 6-12 shooting, made three 3-pointers and had nine points in the first half. Andre Porter collected 15 points (three 3-pointers). Brock Moorman added 10 points and had four blocks for GC. Alex Moore grabbed a game-best 11 rebounds for the home club.

GC trailed 39-32 at the break and were down by as many as 16 points in the first half. The Pride, however, rallied and took the lead once. A Lewis Owenby lay up put GC ahead 57-56 with 8:41 left. The game was tied four times.

The teams both shot 47.5-percent in the contest. GC won the battle of the boards, 38-33. NCWC was 10-13 from the charity stripe and The Pride made 7-16 free throws.

GC leading scorer Daren Dexter missed the game due to the flu.

Matt Daugherty and Domarius Thomas had 15 points apiece for NC Wesleyan.

The Pride plays at Methodist on Feb. 15.
