Centenary’s Lenahan Records Fifth-Straight Double-Double

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (February 8, 2011) – Junior Larry Lenahan (South Amboy, N.J./South Amboy) matched the longest double-double streak in Centenary program history, notching his fifth in a row to lead the Cyclones (8-13, 6-8 CSAC) to a 74-57 win over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Philadelphia Biblical (0-20, 0-14 CSAC), Tuesday in Hackettstown, N.J. Steve McNamara recorded five straight double-doubles during the 2006-07 season.

Lenahan finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, shooting three-of-six from the field and six-of-eight from the free throw line. Three other Cyclones finished in double figures. Senior Corey Kearney (North Arlington, N.J./Queen of Peace) scored a team-high 15 points on six-of-10 shooting, including three-of-four from downtown.

Fellow seniors Rob Urie (Ortley Beach, N.J./Toms River East) and Will Atkinson (Old Bridge, N.J./Raritan) recorded 13 and 12 points, respectively. Atkinson's points came on four three-pointers. Sophomore Warren Murphy (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield Park) tallied a career-high nine rebounds from his guard position.

CC outrebounded its opponent 48-38, including a 21-14 edge on the offensive glass. Centenary shot 25-of-64 from the field (39.1 percent) and hit 11 three-pointers in 27 attempts (40.7 percent) while holding PBU to 36.1 percent from the floor (22-of-61) and 31.8 percent from downtown (seven-of-22). Claude Chalk led the Crimson Eagles with 17 points and seven rebounds.

Centenary never trailed in the contest, opening the game with a 25-7 run before going into the locker room with a 42-28 halftime lead. The Cyclones' offense slowed down in the second period, but CC was able to coast to the 17-point victory.

CC now stands in seventh-place in the CSAC standings, one game behind both Marywood and Immaculata. The Cyclones take on the Mighty Macs on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Folkner Family Gym. IU defeated Centenary, 66-65, on Dec. 6.
