WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College men's basketball team held University of Southern Maine scoreless for the five minute overtime period and Mike Russell (Wellesley, Mass.) had 21 points and 14 rebounds as the Mules took a 67-55 non-conference victory Tuesday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

Colby moves to 10-10 overall, while Southern Maine falls to 9-11.

The Mules took a 55-53 lead in regulation when Russell scored with 31 seconds to play. Southern Maine tied the game and sent it to overtime when Otis Smith (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) hit two free throws with 3.2 seconds to play.

Colby had a 12-0 scoring advantage in the overtime, led by six points and three rebounds from Russell in the extra period.

Kyle Donovan (Portland, Maine) had 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists for the Mules. Christian Van Loenen (Falmouth, Maine) chipped in 10 points, eight boards, and three assists. Eric Beaulieu (Concord, Mass.) finished with nine points and eight rebounds.

Chris Pagentine (Lexington, N.C.) led USM with 16 points and nailed four 3-point shots. Smith finished with a double-double at 14 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three assists.
