SALEM, Ore. – A pair of double-doubles and a solid rebounding effort led the University of Puget Sound men's basketball team to a 69-65 win at Willamette on Saturday. The Loggers (8-11, 5-5 NWC) never trailed in the second half despite a late Bearcat run.

Kaleb Shelton and Edric Egberaure both posted double-doubles to lead the Loggers to victory. Shelton scored 14 points with 11 rebounds while Egberaure scored 13 points and added 10 rebounds. Malcolm Colbert also delivered 12 points off the bench to aid the Loggers.

A strong defensive effort in the first half gave the Loggers a 32-22 lead at halftime. The Bearcats (4-15, 1-9 NWC) shot just 25 percent in the first half while the Loggers shot 37 percent and 3-of-9 from beyond the arc to help build the 10-point lead.

The Loggers also dominated the glass throughout the game as they held a 52-38 rebounding advantage.

"The game plan was to rebound the basketball on both sides of the court," commented head coach Justin Lunt. "We got a lot better. I was very proud of the way we finished at the basket."

In the second half, the Loggers led by as many as 17 points and appeared to be cruising to their second straight victory and third in the last four games. However, the Bearcats caught fire late in the game as they finished the game on a 16-10 run. Fortunately for the Loggers, the run came a bit too late as the Loggers held on for the four-point victory.

The Loggers return home for a four-game homestand that begins at 8 p.m. on Friday when the Loggers host No. 3 Whitworth.
