FREDERICK, Md.--First-year Cameron Cook buried five three-pointers and led all scorers with 19 points to lead the Hood College men's basketball team (10-8, 6-4 CAC) to a 66-59 Capital Athletic Conference victory over the visiting York College (Pa.) Spartans (13-7, 7-4 CAC) Saturday evening at the Odom Fitness Center.

The Blazers are now tied with the University of Mary Washington Eagles for fourth place in the CAC, both with identical 6-4 records. Hood also avenged a four-point loss to York from earlier this month and registered its first win over the Spartans in Frederick since the 2006-07 season.

Hood held the Spartans to just six points over the first 9:25 while opening up an 18-6 advantage. York rallied to make it a one-possession game three times but a buzzer-beating triple by Cook gave the Blazers a 34-28 at intermission.

The Blazers got a trio of layups from Tyler Snoots and Justin Stone to start the second stanza and regain a double-figure lead for Hood. The hosts never relinquished their lead and improved to 7-1 at the Odom Fitness Center on the season.

Cook connected on 7-of-12 from the field and 5-8 from distance to pace the Blazers. Snoots and LaVar Rich dropped in 13 points apiece. Justin Bowens also gave Hood a spark off the bench with seven points and three assists.

Paul Kouvaris finished with 16 points for York while Kevin Whaley also reached double figures with 11.

The Blazers next entertain the first-place and nationally ranked St. Mary's College (Md.) Seahawks Monday at Frederick Community College at 9 p.m.
