Choctaws Hold Off Ozarks' Late Rally, 94-80

CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College men's basketball team won their second straight home game with a 94-80 win over the University of the Ozarks on Saturday afternoon in A.E. Wood Coliseum.  The Choctaws improved to 8-8 overall this season and moved their conference mark to 5-6.

The Choctaws led by as many as 14 points in the second half with 7:13 remaining in the game.  Andre Williams sparked the comeback for the Eagles, scoring 15 second half points and hitting four three-pointers.

Ozarks cut the lead to 86-80 with just 1:28 remaining in the game.  The Choctaws forced a turnover and scored the game's final eight points to run away with a 14-point win.

The Choctaws were led by senior Ken Black, who scored 19 points and pulled down six rebounds.  Juniors Greg Pulliam and Pierre Hadley each poured in 14 points for the Choctaws.  Junior Chad Jones led MC with nine rebounds in the game.

MC outrebounded the Eagles, 35-30, and had four players with at least five rebounds.

The Eagles were paced by Marcus Bobb with 24 points and seven rebounds.  Williams scored 20 points overall and led the team with four assists.  Shawn Curtis tallied a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Choctaws will be back in action on Monday evening when they travel to Pineville to face Louisiana College at 7:30 p.m.
