Lesniak tallies career-high 29 to power Green Terror to fourth straight

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Devon Lesniak (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) netted a career-high 29 points, including a 3-pointer to beat the buzzer and force overtime in McDaniel's 67-65 Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball victory over Gettysburg on Wednesday.

Cullen Murray-Kemp (Trappe, Md./Easton) added 10 points, including a triple in overtime that knotted the game and propelled the Green Terror (9-7, 6-3 CC) to its fourth straight win and forged a three-way tie for second place entering a game at conference-leading Franklin & Marshall.

Andrew Powers paced the Bullets (9-7, 6-3 CC) with 29 points of his own.
Trailing 55-48 after two Brendan Trelease free throws with 1:13 to play in regulation, Lesniak broke McDaniel's 0-for-10 second half from behind the arc, canning a 3-pointer with 51.3 seconds on the clock.

Marcus Dyson (Scotch Plains, N.J./Union Catholic) hit a short jumper from the block directly off an inbounds play to pull the hosts within two with 20.0 seconds showing.

After a pair of attempts to inbound, Powers hit the second of two free throws with 7.9 seconds showing to put Gettysburg on top by three.

Lesniak hit a 25-footer from the right wing as the clock expired to force overtime and then a layup on the first possession of the extra session for a 58-56 lead.

Tim Lang, who finished with 10 points, countered with a layup to even the game with 4:20 on the clock and added a second layup 55 seconds later for a two-point advantage.

Murray-Kemp drained a 3-pointer from the left corner to give the hosts a 61-60 lead with 3:03 showing.

Kevin Kennedy responded with a triple of his own to put the visitors back on top by two.

A single Powers free throw with 1:02 on the clock extended the advantage to three before Murray-Kemp hit another triple to even the game with 47.2 seconds showing.

Lang hit the second of two free throws with 29.6 to play for a one-point lead before Louis Sarris-Grau (Hungtingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) canned both free throws with 17.1 seconds showing for the final lead change of the night to finish with 11 points for the fourth straight game.

The Bullets turned the ball over on its final possession before Lesniak hit the first of two free throws and missed the second intentionally to set the final margin with 0.8 seconds on the clock.

McDaniel opened the game on a 7-0 run through the game's first 2:57 before three straight points from Sarris-Grau extended the lead to double digits at 19-9 with 7:59 showing in the first half.

The Green Terror pushed the lead to as many as 12 in the first half before four straight Powers points closed the halftime deficit to 28-20.

An 8-1 Gettysburg run to open the second half pulled the visitors within one with 17:08 to play in regulation.

Two Powers free throws 4 minutes, 30 seconds evened the game for the first time at 35-all before baskets from Lesniak and Sarris-Grau once again gave the hosts a four-point lead.

Two Sarris-Grau free throws with 7:40 showing pushed the lead to 46-41 before seven of Kennedy's 11 points keyed a 12-0 run gave the Bullets its seven-point lead.

The Green Terror returns to action at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Game time is 4 p.m.
