ARLINGTON, Va. - Wesley College erased a 12-point second half deficit to win its sixth straight game and remain tied for first in the Capital Athletic Conference standings with a 68-61 win at Marymount (Va.).

The Wolverines (11-6, 7-1 CAC) trailed 42-30 after a jumper by Stephen Simoneau with 16:51 to play and still trailed by 11 with 13:32 remaining.  A free throw by Sean McAndrew(Lanoka Harbor, N.J./Lacey Township) and a putback by Paul Reynolds (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna), however, started an 18-7 Wesley run that tied the score on at 52-52 after a pair of Chris Douglas (Landover, Md./Jericho Prep Academy) free throws with 6:27 left.

The Saints (3-14, 1-7 CAC) answered back and took a three-point lead, but a three by Rudy Thomas (Milton, Del./Sussex Tech) and more free throw shooting by Douglas put the Wolverines up 57-55 with 4:22 left.  Tarek Ammoury tied the game 14 seconds later, but another Thomas three gave the Wolverines the lead for good with 3:49 on the clock.

Foul shooting proved to be a key to the game.  Wesley hit 24-of-29 from the line (83 percent), while Marymount sank only 9-of-19 attempts (47 percent).

Reynolds and Kevin Johnson (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) scored 16 points apiece to lead four Wolverines in double figures.  Both players also tied for the team lead with eight rebounds.  Thomas came off the bench for 13 points after hitting 3-of-4 threes, while Douglas hit all eight of his free throws on his way to a dozen points.

Ammoury led all players with 20 points for the Saints.  Reed Scott added 17 before fouling out and John Magnani netted 10 points.

Scott had 14 points in the first half as Marymount jumped ahead 35-28.

The Saints shot 52 percent in the game, but Wesley turned 19 Marymount turnovers into 30 points.

Wesley will look to stay in the win column on Saturday, January 22 when Hood visits Wentworth Gymnasium.
