EMORY, Va. – T.C. Anderson and Josh Pittman both scored 12 points in Guilford College's 81-41 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win at Emory & Henry College Wednesday night.

The Quakers (11-6, 5-3 ODAC) won for the sixth time in seven games thanks to one of their best defensive efforts of the season. Guilford forced the Wasps (3-13, 0-8 ODAC) into 20 turnovers, which led to 26 Quakers' points. By contrast, Guilford turned the ball over just six times.

After Emory & Henry's Terrance Grigg opened the game's scoring, Guilford reeled off the next 10 points and took a 12-2 lead 13:23 before halftime. Pittman had nine of his 12 points by intermission, which helped the guests to a 33-17 lead. The Quakers shot 50 percent from the floor (15-30) in the opening frame and limited Emory & Henry to 33.6 percent shooting (6-18).

Guilford closed the first half on a 6-0 run and scored the first 12 of the second half to put the game away. The Quakers' 40-point margin of victory marked their greatest since a 99-57 triumph over the Wasps Jan. 13, 2010.

Josh Cunningham paced Emory & Henry with 11 points.

The Quakers return home for a much-anticipated matchup with league-rival Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday at 3:00 p.m. The Marlins, ranked second in this week's D3hoop.com Top 25 Poll, enter the game with a perfect 16-0 record (7-0 ODAC). It will be Stache Day at the Ragan-Brown Field House as the first 300 fans will receive artificial moustaches in honor of Guilford head coach Tom Palombo's distinctive lip sweater.
