MADISON, Wis. - Five Edgewood College men's basketball players scored in double figures as the Eagles rolled to their largest Northern Athletics Conference victory of the season, an 83-60 triumph over Wisconsin Lutheran College. Edgewood College, the top shooting team in the NAC, shot 55.9 percent from the field, including 53.8 percent from the three-point line for the game.

Edgewood College (9-5, 5-1 NAC) never trailed as they made five of their first six shots, to open a quick 11-6 lead. Back-to-back layups by Kent Faurote and Ben Wisniewski gave the Eagles a 19-9 lead and forced the Warriors to call timeout. Wisconsin Lutheran College (2-11, 1-4 NAC) would get as close as six points soon after, but back-to-back three pointers by Wisniewski and Cashton Craig to end the first half gave the Eagles a 40-27 halftime advantage.

If the Eagles could be accused of letting the Warriors hang around in the first half, they squashed most hope of a comeback with an 18-6 run in the first seven minutes of the second half. Derek Nkemnji scored back-to-back layups and Jeff Barczak converted a three-point play to finish the run and put Edgewood College ahead 58-33. Two more Barczak free throws another layup for the senior forward, and Edgewood College had their largest lead of the game at 62-35 with 11:19 left to play.

The Edgewood College bench maintained the lead behind strong play from Michael Janusek. The sophomore scored a career-high 10 points, all in the second half. Freshman Brandon Griffith drilled a three-pointer on his first shot attempt of the season, and sophomore Travis Schaaf handed a career-high four assists to share team-high honors with Wisniewski and Nkemnji.

Wisniewski led all scorers with 16 points, including four three-point baskets, despite playing just 25 minutes. Barczak came off the bench and nearly notched a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Craig and Nkemnji scored 12 points apiece to go with Janusek's career-high. Nkemnji went 6-for-8 from the field to boost his season field goal percentage to a whopping 70.3 percent, tops in the NAC.

Edgewood College began the week ranked 21st in the nation in field goal percentage and lifted their accuracy to 49.7 percent with Wednesday night's effort. The game marked the first time Edgewood College has had five players in double figures since a victory over Bluffton College (Ohio) in last season's Albion College Tipoff Tournament. The Eagles also set a new season high with 23 assists.

Wisconsin Lutheran was led by Alex Merbach who scored 15 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Eric Reed tallied 14 points, while Cody Jackson came off the bench to score 12 points for the Warriors. Wisconsin Lutheran had just nine turnovers on the night, but shot just 36.2 percent, including 27.6 percent (8-for-29) from the three-point line.

Edgewood College has won seven of their last nine games, heading into a Saturday tilt at Rockford College. The Eagles and Regents will tip off at 4:15 p.m. at Seaver Gymnasium.
