Lehman Uses Strong 3-Point Shooting to Knock Off Baruch, 85-68

The Lightning of Lehman College shot 58 percent (14-24) from three-point range to defeat the Baruch College Bearcats, 85-68, in a CUNYAC contest on Wednesday night at The Apex Athletic Center on the campus of Lehman College in the Bronx.

The Lightning (9-6, 4-0 CUNYAC) led from start to finish and used their strong shooting from long range to stay ahead of the visiting Bearcats (8-7, 3-1 CUNYAC) in an early season battle for first place in the North Division Standings.

The Bearcats shot 39 percent (28-72) overall from the field and 6-of-27 (22 percent) from three-point range.

Chris Beauchampled Baruch with 25 points (11-22 fg), six assists and three steals. Mickey Abbatiello had another solid game off the bench with 12 points, while Lionel Hilairefinished with 11 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals.

Victor Garcia (9-14 fg, 4-5 3fg) led Lehman with 22 points, while Jonathan DeJesus (3-6, 3fg) scored 21 points and Samuel Batista finished with 16 points (3-4, 3fg). Overall, these three players totaled 10-of-15 from three-point range. 

The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, January 14, with another tough CUNYAC contest against the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island (8-3, 3-0 CUNYAC). Tip off at home in the ARC Arena is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
