Hamline topples Macalester 81-71

Hamline out-scored the Scots 15-7 over the game's final five minutes to turn a closely played contest into an 81-71 victory over Macalester at the Leonard Center. The Pipers received 31 bench points and 46 points in the paint, and shot 52% on the game.

Kyle Hamblett (Sr., Paris, France / American School of Paris) had 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and a couple steals to lead the way for Macalester. Pierce Peters (So., Glenwood, Minn. / Minnewaska Area) chipped in with 14 points and eight boards.

Andy Bowman (So., Perry, Kan. / Perry-Lacompton) scored nine points, while Chris Quinn (So., Medford, Mass. / Beaver Country Day) and Justin Wasik (Fy., Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) tallied eight apiece. Quinn added three assists and three steals. Colin Keeley (Sr., Kildeer, Ill. / Stevenson) helped the cause with seven rebounds and three assists.

Macalester had a 17-7 advantage in offensive boards.

Mike Campbell had 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists to lead the Pipers, while Carl Hipp added 18 points.

The Scots play their final non-conference game Monday (Jan. 10) at No. 8-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 5 p.m. The Pointers are the defending NCAA Division III champions.
