Schenectady, N.Y. - Sophomore swingman Mick DiStasio (Cheverus, Maine) scored a game high 17 points and senior guard Ian Fels (Miami, Fla.) added 13 with five assists to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 77-44 win over the Union College Dutchmen in the championship game of the 2011 Sig Makofski Tournament at the Viniar Athletic Center this evening. The Bantams improved to 9-4 with their third consecutive victory, while Union's five-game win streak was snapped as they stand 8-2.  Trinity entered three tournaments this winter and won each, taking the Golden Bears Hoop Classic title to open the season and the Harbor Invitational at Mass.-Boston over Thanksgiving Break prior to today's win.

Fels was named the tournament Most Valuable Player. In a first round win over Mass.-Dartmouth, he scored a game high 20 points with six rebounds. DiStasio was selected to the all-tournament team along with Justin Gallo and Joe Mason of Union, Elgin Brown of Ramapo and Justin Pulver of UMass Dartmouth.  Trinity freshman forward Eric Dean (Gilford, N.H.) also scored 13 points, while senior guard Brian Ford (Bronx, N.Y.) had 11, and senior co-captain forward Luke MacDougall (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) scored 10 for Trinity, which shot 53 percent from the field for the game and had a 36-28 rebounding advantage.  Sophomore forward Adam Skaggs (Framingham, Mass.) came off the bench to grab a game-high nine boards for the Bantams.  Union was led by Gallo, who had nine points, while Mason had seven with two steals. Keven Donohue led the Dutchmen with five rebounds, and Union shot 33% for the contest.  Trinity led, 39-24, at the half, and in the second stanza, and led from start to finish. The Dutchmen trailed by 17 at 50-33 with 12:06 left, before the Bantams went on a 26-6 run for a 76-39 lead with 3:51 remaining en route to the win. DiStasio scored seven points in that run.
