Rams Hand Dolphins First Loss of Season

Farmingdale State - 104, Mount Saint Vincent - 75

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team handed the visiting College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (10-1, 5-1) their first loss of the season tonight with a 104-75 conference victory. The Rams (5-5, 4-1 Skyline) eclipsed the 100-point mark for the first time since the 2008-09 season, when they scored 104 or more points four times and reached the Elite 8 of the Division III NCAA Tournament.

Farmingdale jumped out to an early 6-0 lead over the first three minutes, before the Dolphins came back to take a 10-8 lead with 15:47 remaining in the first half. But that would be the only lead they held the rest of the way, as the Rams shot 54-percent from long range in the first half (6-of-11) and took the 55-33 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

In the second, Farmingdale continued to build the lead and would never look back as they scored the highest point total since February 21, 2009 and improved their All-Time record against the Dolphins to 13-0.

The Rams had five players in double figures, including junior guard Joshua Smith (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) with a game-high 21 points, junior guard Dyshaun Flournoy (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) with 17 points, senior forward Jermaine Abraham (Brooklyn, N.Y./Wadleigh) and junior forward Davon Henry (New York, N.Y./Wadleigh) with 16 points and senior guard John Dabney (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) with 10 points.

Junior guard Joe Ecock (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) led for Mount Saint Vincent with 15 points.

Farmingdale State will play next at conference rival Old Westbury on Thursday, January 6th at 8:00 p.m.
