Freshman Jake Davis and junior Alex Gulotta combined for 41 points in sparking the Emory men's basketball team to a 104-64 win over Piedmont College Monday evening in a game played at the Woodruff PE Center.  The win was Emory's second straight and raised its overall record to 9-2 while the Lions fell to 6-7.

Emory's offense continued to click for the second consecutive contest with its 62.7 percent mark from the floor (37-of-59) the second-highest showing in school history behind only the 63.3 percent turned in against Case Western on Feb. 23, 2002.  After knocking down 58.8 percent from three-point range on Sunday against Huntingdon, the Eagles devastated Piedmont by raining down 15 triples in 22 opportunities with the 68.2 percent mark the third-highest single-game performance in school history.  Emory's 15 three-pointers tied the second-highest single-game total in the history of the program while the 104 points ranked as the 10^th-highest single-game point effort.

Davis ended the evening converting seven-of-11 from the floor including all three of his attempts from three-point range.  In addition, the 6-foot-5 Davis pulled down a season-high 14 rebounds, his first double-double of his young career.  His 14 caroms represent the high-water mark by an Emory player this season.  Gulotta hit seven-of-eight from the floor and nailed four-of-five from beyond the arc en route to his seventh double-figure scoring outing of the year and fourth of 20 or more points.  Sophomore Alex Greven rounded out the squad's double-figure scorers with 17 points on five-of-nine field goal shooting including three-of-four from distance.

All 13 players who saw action found their way into the scoring column with eight players coming through with at least one three-point field goal.  Sophomores Ryan Peters and Nash Oh, along with junior Austin Claunch, all registered seven points with Claunch and Oh each doling out seven assists.    

Emory hit 60 percent (18-of-30) of its field goal opportunities in the first half in claiming a 56-30 lead at halftime.  Davis already had a double-double at the break with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Greven and Gulotta registered 12 and 11 points, respectively.  Emory enjoyed a big 29-7 edge on the glass and surrendered just two Piedmont offensive boards in the opening 20 minutes of play.  On the night, Emory posted a 43-24 bulge in the rebounding department.  The Eagles kept the offensive pressure on in the second stanza, sinking 65.5 percent (19-of-29) from the floor and eventually built a 47-point lead with 3:05 left in the contest.

Emory returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 8) when it opens University Athletic Association play at the University of Rochester in a noon start.
