Saints Fall, 102-73, to Geneva in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania

(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) - The Thomas More College men's basketball team fell, 102-73, to Geneva College tonight (Monday, January 3, 2011) at Metheny Fieldhouse in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 6-6 on the season and with the win, the Golden Tornadoes improve to 9-3.

The Golden Tornadoes controlled the first half as they led 47-15 at halftime.

Geneva opened the second half on a 6-2 run to take its biggest lead of the game at 53-17 when Richard Colick made a two free-throws with 19:10 to play in the game.  Thomas More responded with a 31-14 run to cut the lead to 67-48 with 11:19 to play in the game when junior shooting guard Todd Krohman (Florence, Ky./Boone County) made a three-pointer.  That would be as close as the Saints would come as Geneva closed out the game on a 35-25 run for the 102-73 victory.

The Saints were led in scoring by freshman point guard D'Carlo Hayes (Louisville, Ky./Male) with a career-high and game-high-tying 23 points.  Freshman point guard Spencer Berlekamp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) and Krohman led the team on the boards with five rebounds each, while Berlekamp led the team in assists with three.

The Saints return to action on Wednesday (January 5) when they host Washington & Jefferson College at 7:30 p.m. inside the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
