Ken Black's Double-Double Leads Choctaws to 84-75 Win Over Belhaven

JACKSON, MS - The Mississippi College men's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with an 84-75 win over Belhaven University on Thursday night at The Hangar Dome on the campus of Millsaps.  The Choctaws (5-4) advance to the championship game of the Millsaps Holiday Tournament at 3:00 p.m. against the winner of the Rust and Millsaps game.

Belhaven took a 39-37 lead into halftime with MC only shooting 29.7% (11-37) from the floor.  The Choctaws answered in the second half, tallying a 51.6% shooting percentage.  MC opened the second half on a 9-0 run and never gave the lead back to the Blazers.

Senior Ken Black tallied a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, including seven offensive boards.  Black went 6-15 from the floor and 6-8 from the free throw line.  Junior Marlon Ester scored 11 points, making three second half three-pointers to lead the Choctaws to the comeback victory.

Rob Wallace led Belhaven with 29 points on 10-21 shooting from the floor.  Daryl Arnold led the Blazers with 14 rebounds, including 12 defensive boards.

The Choctaws will advance to the championship game of the Millsaps Holiday Tournament at 3:00 p.m. on Friday in the Hangar Dome.  They will face the winner of the Rust/Millsaps game that started at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
