LAS VEGAS - Jack Loofburrow came off of the bench to scorch Colorado College for a career-high 31 points and lead Whitworth to an 86-59 win over the Tigers on Wednesday night at the D3hoops.com Classic at the South Point Hotel and Casino Arena.

The win was head coach Jim Hayford's 200th at Whitworth and he is now 200-55 in his 10th year leading the Pirates and 237-82 in his 12th year as a head coach. He is only the second coach in Whitworth history to reach 200 wins, behind Warren Friedrichs who went 251-195 from 1986-2001.

Loofburrow went 13-14 from the field and 5-6 from three-point range to reach his career high total. He sparked the Pirates from a slow start with a pair of treys.

Colorado College (5-5) made its first four three-pointers to jump to early leads of 8-2 and 14-8. But Whitworth final took its first lead at 15-14 on a pair of free throws by Felix Friedt. By halftime the Pirates had stretched the lead to 41-24 and Loofburrow had 15 points.

Whitworth did not let up in the second half and David Riley's basket gave the Pirates a 55-36 lead just over five minutes into the period. Whitworth would eventually lead by as many as 34 points (78-44) after another basket by Riley.

The Pirates shot 56% (32-57) from the floor and 37% (9-17) from three-point range. After their hot start the Tigers made only 36% (18-50) from the field.

Riley scored all 16 of his points in the second half for the Bucs, while Friedt scored all 11 of his points in the first period. Ben Foley and Ryan Milne led Colorado College with 14 points each.

Sixth-ranked Whitworth improved to 11-0 overall. The Pirates have completed non-conference play and will resume their Northwest Conference schedule on January 7th when they host Pacific Lutheran University.
