WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Division I William & Mary sent Shenandoah University down to its sixth straight defeat with a 72-44 non-conference men's basketball victory Thursday evening.

The Tribe (4-5) shot 46 percent (12 of 26) from behind the arc to push past Shenandoah (1-8).

Both teams took 55 shots in the game, but the hosts had 12 3-pointers to the Hornets' four and had scored 10 more points from the foul line (14-4).

After W&M jumped out to a 10-point lead, 14-4, in the first eight minutes of the game, SU ran off the game's next six points to cut the deficit 14-10 by the 10:53 mark.

William & Mary answered that run with six straight points of its own, pushing the advantage back out into double-digits.

The Tribe eventually led by 16 points in the opening stanza before another Shenandoah run, this one 11-2, brought the visitors to within seven at 30-23 following a Kevin Kline layup with 83 seconds remaining.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, W&M scored the final five points of the first half to take a 35-23 lead into the break.

The second half brought more of the game as the Trible held at least a nine-point lead the rest of the way and did not see its advantage dip below 20 points in the final 12:49.

Senior Mitch Dudley led Shenandoah with 11 points and seven boards while freshman Avery Green had 10 in just his second start of the year.

Brandon Britt had a game-high 15 points off the bench for the Tribe.

Shenandoah is off for the next two weeks for Christmas break and returns to action on December 30 at Lycoming. This game is now set for a 6:30 start.
