First half powers 70-51 win over LaGrange

The Majors (4-3) never trailed, slowly building their lead throughout the first half of play. A 12-2 run sparked by a pair of Brian Merkel free throws  with 15:48 remaining and capped by a Taylor Meades layup with 11:25 allowed the Majors to firmly take control of the game, 19-6. The Panthers (0-10) never got closer than eight the rest of the way.

Millsaps was led by Nick Cortese with 19 points, he added three rebounds and three steals on the night. Taylor Meades was right behind Cortese with 18 points.  L.V. Sumler had a team-high nine rebounds, including five defensive.

The Majors were out-rebounded 35-33 on the night. They shot 45 percent from the floor (26-58) and 36 percent from three (8-22). The Panthers were 17-of-45 from the field for 38 percent and just 3-of-16 (19 percent) from three.  LaGrange hit 14 of their 20 free throw attempts while the Majors went 10-of-16 from the line.

The Majors will return for their final home game before the Christmas break this Friday as they host Hendrix College in a 3:00 p.m. tipoff.
