MADISON, N.J. (December 11, 2010) - The Rangers trailed by as many as 21 early in the second half but came all the way back to defeat the College of Staten Island, 69-67. Drew snapped a three-game losing streak to the Dolphins dating back to the 2007-08 season.

At the 15:08 mark Drew (4-4) trailed by a game-high 21 after a CSI layup in transition.  After that point the Rangers would put on by far their best run of the season, scoring 24 of the next 29 points cutting the lead all the way down to five with seven minutes to play in the game. The trio of Mike Mayes (Linden, N.J./St. Mary's), Asmar Capers (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and Luke Glass (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) accounted for 18 of the 24 points during the run.

Now trailing by five it was the Rangers game to win. The Dolphins would respond and get the lead back up to nine but not before another Drew run that would close the book on CSI for good. Capers cashed in on two layups with under five minutes to play to pull the Rangers within four.

CSI's Jordan Young, the game's high-scorer with 22, got the ball in the low post on the ensuing possession and had his shot swatted by John Ford (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) who came over on the help defense. The block proved to be vital as the Rangers called a timeout after a dead ball on the offensive end. Out of the timeout, Head Coach Darryl Keckler subbed in his center Dylan Bulger (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Academy) looking for a quick two. Mayes found the 6-11 center who got great position in the low post and banked one off the glass to get the Rangers within a basket.

After a missed free throw by the Dolphins the Mayes came down and found Glass underneath for a layup making the score 63-62 in favor of CSI. The Dolphins could not convert on the following possession setting the stage for Brown who made a tough layup in traffic with 1:05 to give the Rangers their first lead since the opening minutes.

Up two, with under a minute remaining the Drew defense would apply heavy pressure just as they did a few days prior against FDU. Mayes and Brown would come up with steals in the frontcourt on back-to-back possessions forcing the Dolphins to foul. Capers would score his team-high 21st point off a layup and Glass would knock down two free throws to seal the game for the Rangers.

In the end four players were in double figures for Drew. Capers scored 17 of his 21 in the final frame to lead the way for the for the Rangers. Mayes finished with 10 points and a team-high seven assists while the freshman Glass added 12.

The Rangers will have a week to soak in the win before they take on The College of New Jersey on Saturday at 4:00 in Baldwin Gym
