After hitting a buzzer-beat shot Wednesday night, Ian Franks helped lead The College of Wooster to another victory Saturday, this time recording game highs in scoring (18), rebounding (12), and assists (6) as the No. 1 ranked Fighting Scots rolled to a 68-42 victory over North Coast Athletic Conference foe Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

In addition to Franks' statistics, the story of the game was the team defensive effort from Wooster (8-0, 4-0 NCAC). The Scots helped frustrate Ohio Wesleyan (3-6, 1-2 NCAC) into 26.6 percent shooting from the field (17-for-64) and outrebounded their hosts by a healthy 48-34 margin.

Both offenses were cold early on, with the teams combining to miss nine of their first 11 attempts from the floor. Wooster began to find its range, constructing a 15-6 lead a little more than seven minutes in, but later, the Battling Bishops would use a mini 5-0 run to pull within 21-15 at the eight-minute mark. The Scots answered right back with the next five points and closed the half on an overall 15-6 stretch to go ahead by 15 points (36-21) at the break.

The margin never dipped under 15 throughout the second half, and Wooster extended it into the 20s for much of the final 10 minutes.

While the defense was excelling, the Scots made an even 50 percent of its field goals (27-for-54) to overcome an uncharacteristic 9-for-17 effort at the free throw line (.529) and 16 turnovers.

Fourteen of Franks' 18 points came during the first half, while also setting the tone early was Justin Hallowell, who had eight of his nine rebounds in the opening 20 minutes. Hallowell complemented Franks with an 11-point, nine-board effort for the game.

Wooster will be off next week for final exams and then returns to action Dec. 20 with a visit to Anderson University (5-2). Anderson had been ranked No. 14 in the preseason poll.
