WESTON, MA- The Wheaton College men's basketball team's offense was firing on all cylinders during the championship game of the Park Lodge Tournament at Regis College's Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon, as the Lyons handed the hosts their worst loss of the season, a 73-50 setback.

Wheaton finished with an impressive 14 three-pointers, as 11 of its 12 first-half field goals were threes.  The Blue and White went 14-of-28 from deep, as its 14 triples tied for third most in program annals.  The Lyons improved to 2-6 on the season while snapping the Pride's three-game winning streak.  Falling to 6-3, Regis' largest loss entering today was a 58-48 setback to national power Williams College, which is ranked second in the country by D3hoops.com.

Senior Anthony Coppola (Watertown, MA/Watertown), who was named tournament MVP, recorded a game-high 20 points, six rebounds and a game-best four assists.  He shot 4-of-8 from behind the three-point stripe.  With 192 career three-pointers, Coppola moved into sole possession of third place on the school's all-time list.

Junior Anthony Weeks (Fitchburg, MA/Worcester Academy) turned in 11 points and six boards, as he was selected to the all-tournament team, while freshman Brian Grossman (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) matched Weeks with a trio of threes in posting nine points.

Sophomore Mike Hall (Lynnfield, MA/Saint John's Prep) notched his second straight double-figure rebounding performance, pulling down a career-high 11 boards, while juniors Brendan Degnan (Narragansett, RI/Bishop Hendricken) and Shawn Daily (Mount Vernon, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) added eight and seven points, respectively.

Wheaton committed just 12 turnovers while making a season-high 49 percent of its shots, going 24-of-49.  The Lyons also made 78.6 percent of its free-throw tries and held a 40-29 rebounding advantage.  The Blue and White defense held Regis to 34 percent shooting from the floor and 22.2 percent shooting from three-point territory.  The Pride made just 53.8 percent of its shots from the charity stripe.

Senior Phil Alibrandi (York, ME/York) was the lone Regis player in double-figure scoring with 14 points, while three other Pride players chipped in with seven each.

The Lyons remain in tournament mode later this month when they head to Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, for the two-day Red & Black Classic.  Wheaton squares off against Westfield State University on Thursday, December 30, at 7:30 p.m.
