Owings Mills, Md. – For the third time in four meetings, the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team has dropped over 100 points against Stevenson University as the Seahawks opened up defense of their Capital Athletic Conference championship title with a 113-88 victory on the road over Stevenson Saturday evening.

Five players finished in double figures for the 14th-ranked Seahawks (5-1, 1-0 CAC).  Senior team captain Sam Burum (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) led the way with 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting while fellow captain Mikey Fitzpatrick (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) contributed 15 points and five rebounds.  First-year center Christian MacAuley (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) collected his first career double-double with 10 points and game-best 10 boards.

Junior guard James Davenport (Owings Mills, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and sophomore forward Jeff Haus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) paced a strong bench effort as the Seahawk reserves outscored Stevenson's bench, 58 to 30.  Davenport tallied a season-best 13 points while Haus picked up career-highs of 10 points (4-of-4 from the floor) and six rebounds.

Both teams shot 50% from the floor in the first half but St. Mary's was able to post a 48-39 halftime advantage despite going 0-for-5 from downtown.  Stevenson lead by three early in the contest before the Seahawks distanced themselves by capitalizing on 17 first-half Mustang miscues and putting up 24 points off those turnovers.

Stevenson's senior guard Greg Woody (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph's) netted 12 of his game-high 26 points in the first half to lead all players.

The Mustangs (3-5, 1-2 CAC) came within five (53-48 at 17:27) in the second half before St. Mary's broke open the game with a  26-10 run to lead by 20 or more for the remaining 9:25 of the game.  The Seahawks fired off three three-pointers in the run, including a pair by Davenport, and finished the second stanza with a 7-of-11 effort from behind the arc.

St. Mary's finished the game shooting nearly 60% after making 68.6% of its shots in the second half.  The Seahawks also dominated the glass, outrebounding Stevenson 40 to 29.  Another big stat for the game was the fact that they recorded 45 points off of 29 Mustang turnovers in 40 minutes of action.

The Seahawks will be on the road Monday, December 6 as they travel to Charleston, S.C. to take on NCAA Division I The Citadel in non-conference action at 7:00 pm.
