MSOE men's basketball finishes off Benedictine in OT

Another game goes down to the wire for the Raiders as MSOE outlasted Benedictine 76-71 in overtime Tuesday night at the Kern Center. The Raiders got 22 points and 13 rebounds from senior Austin Meier in the team's first NAC game of the season.

MSOE went 5-6 from the free throw line in the final minute of overtime to pull out the victory against the Eagles. After attempting just two free throws in the first half, the Raiders went 24-30 for the rest of the game. MSOE built a 13-point lead in the second half but Benedictine stormed back to take a three-point advantage with 1:41 left in regulation. A three-point play by Meier gave the Raiders a one-point lead but Terry Licht went 1-2 from the charity stripe to tie the game at 60. The Eagles turned the ball over during the final play of regulation.

Senior Bennett Deacon put in 13 points while junior Oren Bloom had ten points off the bench. MSOE outrebounded Benedictine 33-30. The Raiders are 6-0 on the season which matches their start during the 2008-09 campaign.

The Raiders hit the road to face Aurora Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.
