No. 7 Diplomats Fall to No. 11 Seahawks
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – No. 11 St. Mary's (Md.) used a strong bench performance to defeat No. 7 Franklin & Marshall, 96-77, in non-conference men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.  The Seahawk's bench outscored the Diplomats' reserves 35-7. The win marks the first time the Seahawks have defeated F&M since the six-game series began in 1999.

There were five lead changes in the first five minutes of the game as both teams settled in. F&M (3-1) led 10-9 at 15:38 before St. Mary's (3-1) put together a 19-7 run to take a 28-17 advantage at 9:01.  The Diplomats came within 12 points, 35-23, before the Seahawks outscored F&M 25-8 over the final six minutes of the half to go into the break with a commanding 60-31 edge.

F&M did not get any closer than 18 points in the second as St. Mary's continued to fire on all cylinders.

Four out of five starters reached double-figures for the Diplomats. Georgio Milligan turned in a team best 18 points on 5-for-10 shooting and added 10 assists. James McNally chipped in 16 and Brandon Beckford had 15. Mike Baker shot 60% from the floor for 12 points and Steve Tolliver finished with nine.

McNally is three points away from 1,500 career points and looks to become just the second player in school history with 1,500 points and 700 rebounds.

Alex Franz led all scorers with 21 points, including 15 in the first half.  Sam Brum and Mike Fitzpatrick chipped in 16 and 15 points respectively for the Seahawks. Kyle Jarczynski provided the spark from the bench with 10 points.

The Seahawks outshot F&M 53% to 44% from the behind arc and 59% to 44% from the floor.

F&M looks to rebound Wednesday when the Diplomats travel to Ursinus for a 7:30 p.m. game.
