CLINTON, MS - The Mississipp College men's basketball team opened American Southwest Conference play with a 76-55 win over Texas Lutheran University on Saturday afternoon at A.E. Wood Coliseum.  The Choctaws shot 60% (24-40) from the floor on their way to the victory.

MC made 12-18 shots in the second half and held TLU to only 35% (18-51) shooting from the floor for the game.  MC made 19 of 26 free throws in the second half to seal the win.

Junior Xavier Ruth led the Choctaws with 13 points, including making all four of his free throw attempts.  Junior E.C. Williams scored 10 points, as well.

The Bulldogs were led by Mark Kovach (12 pts.) and Isaac Williams (11 pts.).

The Choctaws will host Schreiner on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the "Golden Dome".
