Berry Drops Ozarks Saturday

The Eagles (1-2) held a narrow 31-29 lead at intermission only to see it evaporate in the second half. There were six ties in the first half, with Ozarks' largest lead (6-2) coming within the first three minutes. Andre Williams carried the Eagles as he scored 17 first half points and hit all three of his three-point attempts. Williams scored the first eight points for Ozarks and would later hit his third three at the 12:45 mark to give Ozarks a 15-14 advantage. Ozarks last lead of the game came at the 18:56 mark of the second after Jerard McGinty completed a three-point play. Berry (1-1) then went on a 22-9 run to build a 55-43 advantage with 8:40 left in the contest. Berry built a 65-49 advantage in what seemed to put the game away with less than five minutes left. But Ozarks would narrow the deficit to 67-61 on McGinty's three-pointer at the 2:29 mark. Jermery Victor followed with a layup to cut it to 67-63 seconds later. With 21 seconds left, Marcus Bobb scored inside to put Ozarks within 75-72. Berry would hit 4-of-6 from the free throw line in the final 18 seconds to secure the game. Dustin Morett did nail a three-pointer at the buzzer to make the score 79-77.


Williams led the team with 21 points. McGinty and Bobb each contributed 11 points. Bobb had eight rebounds and Shawn Curtis grabbed seven.

Ozarks will host Rhema Bible College Tuesday.
