More news about: Hartwick

Tournament Most Valuable Player Mike Hoy scored 14 of his game-high 18 points in the first half for the Blue Knights, who improve to 3-0 on the season. Hartwick, which drops to 2-1, received a team-high 15 points from freshman Anthony Keane (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell).
Hoy hit 5-of-9 shots and the Knights dominated the interior in the opening 20 minutes of the game. They finished the half with a 28-11 advantage on the glass, including 13 offensive rebounds and 10 second-chance points.
Neither team led by more than five for the opening 10 minutes of action. A three-pointer from senior Martin McCann (Hopewell Junction, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) pulled the Hawks to within one, 27-26, with 7:37 remaining, but the Knights would outscore 'Wick 23-13 the rest of the way to take a 50-39 lead into the intermission.
Five straight McCann points with five and a half minutes gone in the second half closed the gap to five, 54-49, but Geneseo scored eight of the next 10 points to build a double-digit lead that they did not relinquish the rest of the day.
The Hawks cut the deficit to 11 points on three occasions later in the half. A Christian Laputka (Freeland, PA/Hazleton Area) free throw made the score 75-64 with 5:10 on the clock but the Hawks would get no closer as three buckets by Ryan Riefenhauser down the stretch sealed the win.
The Hawks out-rebounded the Knights in the second half by a margin of 19-12. 'Wick shot 45% as a team (23-for-51) and hit 10-for-25 from three-point range after hitting a College record 20 treys yesterday against St. Joseph's. The Knights connected on 35-of-67 shots from the field (52%).
McCann, who ended up with 14 points and eight three-pointers in two games, was named to the all-tournament team. Mike Geisser (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) added 14 points and Jared Suderely (Newport, NY/West Canada Valley) contributed 10 points and seven rebounds for the Hawks. Chris Ryder (Port Washington, NY/Port Washington) scored nine points and pulled down seven boards.
Riefenhauser netted 16 points and registered 11 rebounds for Geneseo. Jordan Jones scored 13.
Geneseo's John Drazan, who netted 11 points in the contest, joined McCann on the all-tournament team along with St. Joe's Donald Coleman and Carlos Valdez of Mount Saint Mary. Valdez grabbed a game-high 15 boards in MSMC's 89-63 win in the consolation game.
Hartwick returns to action on Tuesday. The Hawks travel to North Adams, MA for a game against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 7 p.m.
