MSOE men's basketball starts season with win in All-Engineers Classic

Milwaukee -- A balanced offensive attack led the Raiders to a 77-49 victory over Caltech in the semifinals of the 2010 MSOE All-Engineers Classic. Four MSOE players scored in double figures as the Raiders started their season with a victory at the Kern Center.

MSOE began the game on an 11-0 run and didn't look back from there. The Raiders extended their lead to 26-5 and the Beavers couldn't cut the lead to single digits the rest of the night. Junior Oren Bloom led MSOE with 12 points. Another junior Michael Ricciardi put in 11 points on 4-4 shooting from the field. Senior Austin Meier scored ten points to go along with nine rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Raiders starting center junior Eric Bohrer led all MSOE players with ten rebounds and also had nine points on 4-6 shooting. Sophomore Victor Bande put in 10 points as he was 4-5 from the field in his MSOE debut. Also off the bench was junior Cynerick Osinaike who came up with nine points. The Raiders thrashed Caltech on the glass as they pulled down 53 rebounds compared to 27 for the Beavers.

Earlier at the Kern Center, Carnegie Mellon edged the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy 70-67 in the first game of the tournament.

Sunday, MSOE will face Carnegie Mellon in the championship game of the All-Engineers Classic. Fans can listen to the broadcast of that game here. Coverage of the game will begin at 3 p.m. The consolation game will pit USMMA against Caltech at 1 p.m. Both games will take place the Kern Center on the campus of MSOE in downtown Milwaukee.
