ANNVILLE (PA) – Delaware Valley College went on a 15-2, second-half run to take the lead for good as the Aggies gutted out a 54-51 victory over perennial NCAA playoff squad Richard Stockton College in the opening round of the Rinso Marquette Tournament at Lebanon Valley College.

Delaware Valley (1-1) will now play in Saturday's championship game (3:00 p.m.) against the host Dutchmen, who posted a 95-73 win over Penn State-Harrisburg in the other first-round match-up. Richard Stockton, which has won 70 games and reached the postseason each time over the last three years, fell to 1-1.

The game was tied at 26-26 at the break and Richard Stockton took a three-point lead, 39-36 with just under 12 minutes remaining in the second half. The Aggies then held the Ospreys to just two points over the next five minutes while five different players combined for 15 points as they took a 51-41 advantage.

Richard Stockton got to within three, 53-50, as Kai Massaquoi hit his first free thrown with just 17 seconds to go. He missed the second and Kevin Johnson grabbed the offensive board to give the Ospreys another chance. Pat Kelly's 3-pointer with nine ticks left was off the mark and Aggie forward Jeremy Beckett notched the rebounds and was fouled. He hit one of the two free throws with six seconds left to give put the game away.

Both teams shot under 40 percent from the field, but Delaware Valley was 7-for-16 from 3-point land compared to a 4-for-14 effort by the Ospreys. James Jones led the Aggies with 16 points while Chris Ellis added 14. Massaquoi finished with 16 points to pace Richard Stockton.
