Second Half Surge Dooms Medaille Men

(Geneseo, NY) – The Medaille College men's basketball team took to the road for the first time and found themselves in a game that was a tale of two halves.  The Mavs controlled the first 20 minutes but Geneseo State used an early second half surge to gain control of the game and earn a (69-63) victory over Medaille.

The Mavs were strong early but couldn't sustain their momentum down the stretch as Geneseo State turned the tide and handed the Mavs its second straight loss to open the season. 

The biggest factor in the Mavs fast start was senior Joe Mogavero (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) who knocked down his four attempts from the floor en route to a (17) point, (12) rebound evening.  Mogavero has pulled down (26) boards in the Mavs first two games. 

Senior Ricky Reed (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) tallied (14) points on (5 of 9) shooting in the loss.

The Mavs open the year at (0-2) and will look to rebound on Tuesday (11/23) when they head to SUNY-IT to face the Wildcats in a rematch of their 2nd round NCAA Tournament game from last year that the Mavs loss in heartbreaking fashion (64-63).
