SALEM, Va. — Williams College shot 70.4 percent in the second half and made 16 three-pointers in a 97-88 comeback win over Guilford College Friday in the first of two NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament semifinal games.

The Ephs (30-1) meet the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (28-4) in Saturday's the Division III final at 1:00 p.m. The Pointers defeated Randolph-Macon College (26-7), 72-60, in Friday's second semifinal at the Salem Civic Center.

Guilford ends its best Division III season with a 30-3 overall record, the program's second-highest win total. The Quakers also placed third in the 2009 Division III tourney.

Williams' Blake Schultz scored 18 of his team-high 25 points in the second half and made all four three-pointers in that time. His three at the 11:26 mark tied the game at 55 and capped the Ephs' rally from a 46-35 deficit earlier in the half. Williams outscored Guilford, 23-12, in the first 9:21 of the second half. The Quakers used a 22-2 burst over the latter part of the first half to take a 43-35 edge into intermission.

Schultz' three-pointer with 3:31 left broke a 75-75 tie. After Nate Robertson's layup at the 2:47 mark snapped the game's ninth and final draw, Schultz scored on Williams' next possession, which opened an insurmountable 82-78.

Two Rhett Bonner free throws with 1:09 left trimmed Williams' lead to 85-82, but Williams put the game out of reach on a James Wang basket with 65 seconds left that opened an 89-84 edge. After Guilford's Clay Henson missed a three-pointer at the other end, the Quakers started fouling and Williams converted all eight free throws in the final 42 seconds.

Guilford shot five-for-10 from the floor in the final four minutes, but missed all four three-pointers. By contrast, Williams made six of its last seven shots, including three-of-four three-pointers, plus all eight free throws.

Williams entered the game as the Division III leader in overall (.525) and three-point (.458) field-goal shooting. The Ephs lived up to their billing by making just under 59 percent (33-56) of their shots, including 57.1% (16-28) from beyond the arc. Their shooting percentages and 97 points are the highest figures yielded by Guilford this season.

Wang finished with 19 points, 12 in the second half, and a game-high five assists. Alex Rubin shot 6-for-12, all from three-point range, and scored 18 points.
