Division III women's basketball has fewer upsets. It's just a fact. Look at the (minimal) changes in any weekly Top 25 poll, or the first round of any Division III NCAA Tournament.

Game recap: WLC takes down No. 10 Wheaton

Typically, what passes for an "upset" is a team beating someone who's ranked in the lower half of the poll. Or one ranked team beating another in the first round.

But the women's game isn't immune. And an epic individual performance can deal a highly touted opponent a world of hurt.

That's what happened in the first round of 2015. Wheaton (Ill.), ranked No. 10 and hosting in the first weekend, was matched up against Wisconsin Lutheran, the champions of a conference which had won two NCAA Tournament games in the previous decade. But those teams didn't have Kristen Schulz. She put the Warriors on her back and was a workhorse, racking up 27 points and an amazing 20 rebounds, practically willing Wisconsin Lutheran to a 70-67 overtime win. Schulz finished with 28 double-doubles in 29 games that season.
