Kirk Murad Kirk Murad has been hired as women's basketball head coach at Bay Path for the 2018-19 season.

Since 2013, Murad has been involved in working internationally with the Singapore FIBA sanctioned basketball program, working with the FastBreak Basketball Club and coaching the Singapore Women's National Team where the team qualified for the SEABA championships earning a bronze medal in 2016.

Murad replaces Taryn Roy, a 2015 graduate of WPI who coached the Wildcats to a 3-43 record over the past two seasons. Bay Path has lost 24 consecutive games entering the season opener, Nov. 8 at Mount Holyoke, which went 0-24 last season.

"As a professional basketball coach with a successful history of leading high school, college, program and national teams toward excellence, I am excited to be at Bay Path University," says Murad.

A graduate of Clarkson, Murad was a two-year starter at point guard and received All-conference honors as senior. Murad then went on to coach at Clarkson as an assistant and over the next 17 years as a head coach at the high school level; East Hampton HS, Glastonbury, and E.O. Smith at each stop helping lead the program to improved records or the Connecticut State Tournament. In 2011 he was recognized as Connecticut Coach of the Year by the New Haven Register for leading his E.O. Smith team to the CT state championship game.

"Bay Path is looking forward to Coach Murad putting his experience and passion into developing a competitive and hardworking program and we are happy to begin the journey with him," said athletic director Steve Smith.
