McLean out as coach at Alfred

Monique McLean Monique McLean, head women's basketball coach at Alfred for the past three seasons, is no longer in that role at the university. 

No announcement was made, but McLean's name has been removed from the Alfred athletics website. 

McLean, a two-time All-Big East player at St. John's, had spent two years as a graduate assistant at Division III Bethany before the Saxons gave her her first head coaching position. She took over a program that has seen its win total diminish from a 12-13 record in 2008-09 to 6-19 the year before her hiring, 2014-15. 

As head coach at Alfred, McLean coached teams that went 2-23, 4-21 and 2-23, with a combined 3-45 mark in Empire 8 play. Nine of the 11 players on the roster were freshmen and sophomores.
