Pitt-Greensburg selected Brody Jackson, an assistant coach at Mount Union, as its new head men's basketball coach. He replaces Sean Strickland who was let go earlier this summer.
University Director of Athletics Anthony Berich announced the hiring on Friday, June 30.
"[Jackson] comes to us from an outstanding program at Mount Union where he excelled under the tutelage of Coach Mike Fuline," said Berich in the University's release. "We look forward to Brody bringing the same energy and passion to Pitt-Greensburg basketball. His past success as a student-athlete has served him well as a coach, and we are excited to have him lead our program."
An Akron, Ohio native, Jackson worked under Fuline for five seasons during which the Purple Raiders improved from a sub-.500 team in 2012-13 to reaching the NCAA Tournament sectional semifinals in 2014-15. Mount Union's 90-49 record from 2012-13 through last season was the best mark in program history for any five-year span.
"This program will be built on family values," Jackson said in the release. "I can't wait to meet this group of guys and get started on building relationships that will last for a long, long time. They are all a part of my family now. In the Jackson family you get pushed hard and you get loved just as hard. I want to make this the best years of their life and have memories that they will never forget."
Jackson played four seasons, three as a starter, at Bethany. As a senior in 2007-08, Jackson finished 13th in the country in made three-point field goals per game (3.4) and 17th for three-point field goal percentage (44 percent). He earned a Bachelor's degree from Bethany and a Master's degree from Concordia University Irvine.
Jackson replaces Sean Strickland who was let go by the University this summer. Strickland went 72-109 in seven seasons.
The Bobcats finished 1-24, 1-17 in the AMCC last season after going 19-10, 13-5 the previous season.
