The St. Elizabeth athletic department has hired Tom Wagenblast as the school's first ever head men's basketball coach.

Wagenblast will lead the men's basketball program when they start play in 2016. He will also split time as an admissions recruiter to help bring in men to CSE. Wagenblast brings years of experience to the Eagles athletic program. He arrives from Kean, where he was the associate head coach for seven seasons.

The decision comes after the school announced it will become fully coeducational beginning in the fall of 2016.

With Wagenblast on staff, the Kean University men's basketball coaching staff was awarded with the Sam Schoenfeld Award given by the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association three times.  The Schoenfeld Award is presented to the college or university, which in the judgment of the CBOA membership best exemplifies "the highest degree of sportsmanship, character, and ethics among their players, coaches and spectators."

"I am extremely excited to start the men's basketball program at the College of Saint Elizabeth." Said Wagenblast, who graduated from Rutgers where he was a four-year student manager. "Starting a program from scratch is an unbelievable opportunity.  I look forward to not only building the basketball program to compete in the NEAC, but also helping recruit the general student to CSE."
