Trine men's basketball coach Rob Harmon has been promoted to associate athletic director.

Harmon has been employed in the Trine athletic department for 16 years, serving as both coach and part-time associate athletic director. Harmon will transition from his coaching role to a new administrative role in the athletics department. The Thunder were 80-115 in his eight seasons as head coach.

“I am grateful for this opportunity, and it comes at a good point in my career as I look forward to transitioning from coaching to a full-time role in athletic administration,” Harmon said.

Due to the significant growth of Trine’s student-athlete population (which now totals more than 600 students), expansion of facilities and athletic programming and a desire to increase the number of summer sports programs, university officials believed this position was necessary, said Jeff Posendek, Trine athletic director.

“Rob has an extensive background in athletic operations and management at the university level. He continuously demonstrates tremendous leadership and has the knowledge and ability to assist in a greater capacity as we move Trine’s NCAA Division III athletic program to new heights,” said Trine president Earl D. Brooks II.
