Massaquoi, Hipp win NABC vote

Seniors Kai Massaquoi of Richard Stockton and Carl Hipp of Hamline were the top vote-getters in the D3hoops.com fan vote for the NABC Division III All-Star Game.

The two were selected from among eight finalists, seniors representing all eight regions of Division III men's basketball, for two spots in the game which takes place before the national championship game on March 19 at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Va.

D3hoops.com will broadcast live video of the game.

Massaquoi and Hipp each earned more than 20 percent of the vote, of which 16,243 were cast. Massaquoi led with 21 percent, followed by Hipp, with 20. The vote included players who are on teams that did not make the NCAA Tournament. The NABC's selection committee will select 16 more players, two from each region, and players from the teams that lose in the national semifinals will make up the other two spots on the rosters.

Massaquoi was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference's defensive player of the year for the second consecutive year. He is the seventh-leading scorer in Richard Stockton history with 1,251 career points.

Hipp, also a conference defensive player of the year, led the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in scoring with 18.5 points per game and rebounding with 10.6. He was also tops in blocked shots with 1.95 blocks per game.
