D3hoops.com has released its ninth annual All-Region teams. The team, voted on by Sports Information Directors in each region, was selected from 676 nominations.
Schools were contacted twice, once as the regular-season ended and, if necessary, again through the conference office last week to make sure they nominated their players. The 676 nominations is a record high.
The All-Region teams include three teams of five players (two teams if the region has 40 or fewer teams), a player of the year, rookie of the year and coach of the year.
The women's Regional Players of the Year: Caroline Stedman, Amherst; Jessica Laing, Cortland State; Easter Faafiti, Gallaudet; Kelly McKeon, Muhlenberg; Chelsie Schweers, Christopher Newport; Carrie Snikkers, Hope; Julia Hirssig, UW-Stout; Claire Ely, Puget Sound.
The men's Regional Players of the Year: Nate Montgomery, Whitworth; Steve Djurickovic, Carthage; Ian Franks, Wooster; Tyler Sanborn, Guilford; Darnell Braswell, DeSales; Marcel Esonwune, York (N.Y.); Corey McAdam, Nazareth; Blake Schultz, Williams.
You can find those honorees and the full all-region teams on our D3hoops.com All-Region teams site. The site includes previous years' All-Region teams as well.
All nominees are eligible for the D3hoops.com All-America teams, which will be announced on Saturday at the Final Four.
