Sophia Guerrier Nets 1,000th Career Point in, 67-28, Win at Southern Maine

Gorham, Maine--Graduate guard Sophia Guerrier (Waltham, Mass.) scored 10 points to bring her combined collegiate career total to 1,000 as the Rhode Island College women's basketball team defeated Southern Maine, 68-27, in Little East action played at Hill Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen went on a 10-2 run to begin the first quarter, with the entire starting five making offensive contributions, to go up by 11, 20-9, after 10 minutes of play.
 
• Fifth-year forward Izabelle Booth (Newport, R.I.) took control in the second quarter, scoring 12 points, which included a pair of three-pointers, to pace RIC to a 41-14 lead going into halftime.
 
• The Anchorwomen defense smothered the Huskies in the third quarter, limiting Southern Maine to just four points and 1-for-10 shooting from the field.
 
• Guerrier's jumper with six minutes left in the fourth quarter would bring her career total to 1,000. She also contributed with eight rebounds, four steals, and a pair of assists to lead the Anchorwomen to their eighth consecutive win to start the season.
 
• Booth recorded a game-high 14 points in the victory.
