#9 Millikin Remains Unbeaten

The ninth ranked Millikin women's basketball team went to 8-0 with a 95-50 win over Elmhurst University on December 6 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois. Millikin is now 2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). Elmhurst falls to 4-4, 1-2.

 

Elmhurst stayed with Millikin for the first five minutes of the opening quarter thanks in part to six Big Blue turnovers. Millikin shot 9-18 in the quarter and building a 24-17 advantage. The second quarter was all Millikin scoring 33 points while holding the Bluejays to 12. It was 57-29 at halftime.

 

Millikin shot 49 percent (34-69) from the field and made 10-26 (38.5 percent) from three-point range. The Big Blue were 17-18 from the free throw line. Elmhurst shot 32 percent (20-63) while connecting on 3-15 from beyond the arc. Millikin forced the Bluejays to commit 31 turnovers.

Elmhurst won the rebounding battle 43-35.

 

Elyce Knudsen led Millikin with 24 points along with five steals, three rebounds and two assists. Bailey Coffman scored 16 points with six rebounds, four steals and four assists. Sophie Darden added 16 points and a team high seven rebounds. Anna Blank had nine points followed by Christina Rice with eight.

 

Anna Kleszynski led the Bluejays with 12 points followed by Nariyah Smith and Shanyce Makuei each with 10.

 

Millikin travels to Carroll University on Saturday, December 9.
